October with Student Nutrition Services
Thank you for being a part of this community in an effort to nourish SFUSD students!

Find the October Menus

Do you know where to find your school’s menu? Please take a moment to look over the October menu. All menus can be found at sfusd.edu/menus.

Reminder: All SFUSD Students can eat nutritious meals at no cost to them. Help them take advantage of the meal program to save time and money, and bring their best selves to the classroom!

We have three methods to find your menu:

  • Download a PDF (For all sites)
  • View on SchoolCafe (For Refresh Sites Only, due to a recent software change for Revolution Foods.)
  • Printed monthly menus available in cafeterias and/or school offices for you or your child’s reference.

There are printable .pdf files separated by menu type. Additionally, Nutrition & Allergen information for Revolution Foods menus can be found in this google folder

For any questions, reach out to SNS at SchoolLunch@sfusd.edu.

Latinx Heritage Month with Julia

Meet Julia! Julia works at Buena Vista Horace Mann K-8 School and has worked with Student Nutrition Services for 21 years. Her El Salvadorian heritage makes serving culturally significant meals that much more important, especially as her school serves predominantly Latinx students. Her warmth towards her students and her understanding of the importance of food access make her an invaluable asset to SFUSD and Student Nutrition Services.

Watch Julia's video and read more about Latinx Heritage Month on our Blog.

About the 2024-2025 School Year Multipurpose Family Income Form

What is the Multipurpose Family Income Form (MFIF)?

MFIF is an alternative income form that supports school funding for all TK-12 schools. The form collects family income information that helps determine financial need of the school community.

As of 2022, with CA Meals for All, the MFIF no longer impacts free meal eligibility at TK-12. All Students eat for free!

All submissions, as of October 3, will not impact LCFF funding, however, MFIF eligibility continues to allow families to receive SunBucks in the summer, apply for reduced-cost utilities, and more.

How Families Can Submit the MFIF

Student Nutrition Services is only accepting online submissions for the MFIF through SchoolCafe.com. This process is a simple 5-10 min application process. We are doing this because it is the only way to ensure a complete application is submitted. There are resources and guides available at sfusd.edu/mfif, including the Family Benefits Guide.

You can help! Encourage families to continue submitting the MFIF online regardless of income. Please let them know it will not impact their school meal eligibility.

October Harvest of the Month | Apples
Try some of our suggestions at home!
The October Harvest of the Month is Apples! Apples are a wonderful addition to salads, can be eaten with cheese and crackers, or enjoyed with any kind of nut butter! They are very versatile! Our Refresh menu includes apples often to fulfill the fruit requirement for meals. This month students may also get to enjoy them in their yogurt parfaits. Our Revolution Foods menu typically incorporates apples to fulfill the fruit requirement, and incorporates other seasonal fruit each month!

View our October Harvest of the Month poster to learn more about Apples. You're welcome to print them for your school, office, or home! It even includes easy ways to incorporate Apples into your at home meals.
